T-Ross Brothers Construction was proud to serve as the contractor for Newman Commons, a thoughtfully designed housing community created for seniors aged 62 and older with incomes at or below qualifying income levels.

Constructed on land generously donated by WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital, Newman Commons was developed to provide safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing while fostering independence, wellness, and community connection for Union County’s senior population.

The completed development includes seven residential buildings featuring 39 one-bedroom units and 5 two-bedroom units. Each apartment was designed with comfort and functionality in mind, incorporating open floor plans, in-unit laundry, and ample storage to support independent living and everyday convenience.

In addition to the residential buildings, the project also included the construction of a central community gathering building and an outdoor patio with grilling space, creating welcoming areas where residents can socialize, gather, and build meaningful connections within the community.

T-Ross Brothers Construction completed full site development and infrastructure installation for the project while coordinating closely with architectural and engineering teams throughout all phases of construction. The project also incorporated energy-efficient building systems and high-performance construction standards designed to promote sustainability and long-term operational efficiency.

Newman Commons was built to meet both the National Green Building Standard and the Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Homes criteria, demonstrating a strong commitment to energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and resident comfort.

Funding for the project was secured through Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and PennHOMES financing, helping make quality senior housing more accessible within the region.
